Discover the magic of the Amazon Rainforest with the Sapara Nation

The Naku Center

The Naku Center is an eco-tourism project founded and run by the Sapara Nation in the heart of the Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest. Dedicated to protecting the rainforest, the Sapara created this center as a way to share the magic of the Amazon Rainforest and exchange millennial knowledge of the forest, dream and spirit world with friends from around the world through an immersive rustic experience.  Located deep within the forest, only accessible by a 2-day hike or short plane ride, get ready for a unique experience unlike any other.

The Sapara Nation

Once a nationality of over 200,000 people, there are now less than 600 Sapara left between the Peruvian and Ecuadorian Amazon. One of the foundations of Sapara culture is mutual respect of each other and our environment.  Their cosmovision is based on recognizing the sacredness of all things, visible and invisible. The Sapara have lived in harmony with the natural world for millenia. Through the Naku experience, you’ll learn first hand from the Sapara about their ancestral knowledge of dream interpretation and plant medicine.

The Experience

Our intention is to share the magic of the natural and spirit world with our guests during their time at Naku. Whether you come for a 3-night or 7-night journey, expect to leave the jungle feeling transformed and renewed. During your stay at Naku, you’ll have the opportunity to swim in the Conambo River, trek in both primary and secondary forest, camp on the river bed, learn about the plant kingdom, have cultural exchanges with the local communities, try local food and drink, participate in traditional ceremonies and more. Each journey is unique and can be tailored to the group.

Community Initiatives

The proceeds from Naku go directly to support the community and culture. The Sapara have taken responsibility to build their own school systems, providing both a western and traditional education to their youth. The proceeds also support the community emergency medical fund and ongoing activism initiatives to protect the forest from outside exploitative interests. Thank you for being a part of this effort!
